Community Quotes 6.0: a quote wall your members build together
Today we are releasing Community Quotes 6.0 for Joomla 5 and 6. It is not an update. It is a complete rewrite, from the database up to the last button, and it turns a quiet quotes page into something your community actually shows up for.
If you ran the old Community Quotes, you already know the idea: collect memorable lines, attribute them properly, and put them where people read. Version 6.0 keeps that idea and rebuilds everything around it, so the reading is faster, the contributing is easier, and the administration finally feels modern.
A wall people want to visit
The site is now a single page app. Open it and you land on a Quote of the Day, then a masonry wall you can sort by trending, newest, most discussed, most loved, or verified only. Filter by category or tag, or search the whole archive. Nothing reloads. It just moves.
Every quote is a real page with its own provenance: where it came from, whether the attribution is verified, disputed or a translation, and a row of similar quotes to pull you deeper. Prefer to listen? Hit play and the quote is read aloud, in any of the supported languages. Quotes can carry community translations, each with its own language chip and attribution.
Give members something to do
A quote wall is only alive if people can touch it. In 6.0 they can:
- React four ways: Inspired, Agree, Makes me think, Disagree.
- Bookmark quotes and find them all again in a Saved view.
- Build collections, follow other people's collections, and add any quote to one of their own straight from the card.
- Submit new quotes through a four-step wizard that checks the attribution as they type and scores how confident it is, then sends it to moderation or straight to the wall, by your rules.
Contributors get author profiles with a life-and-works timeline and a verified badge, a follower count, and a place on the Rising Authors rail. Regulars earn a submission streak and climb a badge ladder from First Quote to Sage. Small touches, but they are the difference between a page and a habit.
Take the quotes with you
Good lines want to travel. Community Quotes 6.0 renders downloadable share cards as PNGs, in three aspect ratios, ready for social. Inside Joomla, drop any quote into an article with the {cquote} shortcode in four styles (card, blockquote, pull quote or inline), or click the editor toolbar button and pick one from a list. And the single site module has eight modes, from Quote of the Day to a scrolling ticker to a digest signup, so quotes can appear anywhere on your site.
Keep the inbox warm
New in 6.0 is a full email stack. Members subscribe to a daily or weekly digest and pick their own frequency. A Joomla Scheduler task sends it on time, in safe batches. Every message carries a one-click unsubscribe that needs no login, and a notification preferences center lets members tune exactly what they hear about. On the admin side, you can edit every transactional email, set your sender identity, header, footer and brand colors, send a test, and preview the result live before anything goes out.
An admin that respects your time
The backend is a React dashboard, not a wall of tabs and reloads. You get KPI cards, a 30-day activity chart and a top-quotes list at a glance. Managing quotes, authors, collections and tags happens in fast, filterable tables with bulk actions and a drawer editor. Moderation is its own workspace, with the attribution notes and confidence scores right where you approve, reject or flag, plus a reports list to keep things civil. Settings are grouped into focused tabs, and the changes you make are the only ones that get written.
Under the hood
For the developers and the curious: 6.0 is built on modern Joomla MVC for Joomla 5 and 6, with PSR-4 namespaces, a dependency-injection service layer, Table entities and parameter-bound queries throughout. The admin and the public site are each a React 19 and TypeScript app built with Vite, using TanStack Query and Zustand. There is no jQuery. The schema is 17 normalized tables under the #__cquotes_ prefix, and the whole interface is themeable through --cq-* design tokens with light, dark and auto modes.
It plays well with the rest of the Shondalai family, too. Install Rewardify and members earn points for quote activity. Install QuillThreads and every quote gets a real comment thread. Both integrations ship in the box and stay out of the way until you want them.
Upgrading from the old Community Quotes
Your data comes with you. Install the package, open the Migration tool in the admin, review the previewed counts and run it. The migration is non-destructive and idempotent: it preserves row IDs and category IDs, so existing links and SEF URLs keep resolving, and you can safely run it again if you need to.
Get it
Community Quotes 6.0 is available now. It installs as a single package: the component, the site module and five plugins. It runs on Joomla 5 and 6 with PHP 8.1 or newer, and it is released under the GPL.
Download it, put a wall on your site, and let your community fill it.
